FOX 31 in Denver reports that free agent S James Butler has agreed to a four-year, $14 million contract with the Rams.

Butler can reportedly earn another $3 million via incentives. The Niners gave Butler a brief look, but otherwise St. Louis was the only team known to be in pursuit. He'll be a surefire starter there after Corey Chavous' release.

Matt Jones was arrested in Washington County, Arkansas Monday for possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest happened at 6:21PM Monday. This comes less than a year after Jones was charged with felony cocaine possession in the same county. The "controlled substance" this time isn't known, but last July's arrest resulted in a three-game suspension. He could be facing at least an eight-game ban after the latest arrest, whether the charges are dismissed or not.

The Jaguars have agreed to terms with OT William "Tra" Thomas on a three-year contract.

Thomas will slot into Khalif Barnes' old spot at left tackle and will be an improvement in pass protection. The Jags may still draft a tackle, but now they will have the luxury of breaking a rookie in slowly. The signing also gives Jacksonville greater flexibility at the No. 8 spot in the draft.

ProFootballTalk reports the Cardinals have agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract with CB Bryant McFadden.

It turns out Domonique Foxworth and Ronald Bartell were the most valued corners on the market with McFadden settling into the second tier. McFadden will likely join the starting lineup opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie while Rod Hood moves to nickel back duties.

Bills agreed to terms with Terrell Owens on an undisclosed one-year contract.

That was fast. While the move is completely against Buffalo's character, it makes sense for them. They are desperate for receiver firepower across from Lee Evans to help Trent Edwards out. The rest of the AFC East isn't getting easier and Dick Jauron may be in a playoff-or-bust year. It may blow up in their face, but we love that it's a one-year deal. Owens will have to perform and behave to keep his career going. While this helps Evans and Edwards, Owens is joining the least explosive offense of his career. Expect his numbers to suffer accordingly.

Terrell Owens is visiting the Bills Saturday.

Buffalo, in desperate need for talent opposite Lee Evans, is expected to offer Owens a one-year contract. At that length, it's worth the risk for coach Dick Jauron, who is on a short leash. No other teams have publicly displayed interest in Owens.

The Tennessee Titans continue to seek evidence to support a claim that the Redskins tampered in their signing of Albert Haynesworth just five hours into the free agent signing period.

Rumors were rampant that the Redskins had a deal in place before the signing period began, fueling speculation that they started negotiating before they were allowed to by the league. Haynesworth maintains that was not the case, however, and it will be difficult to bring any charges unless the Titans can present some evidence.

The Chargers have reportedly made LaDainian Tomlinson a "final offer" in negotiations to restructure his contract.

The Chargers have put him in a position where he can either accept the offer or play elsewhere in 2009. Beat writer Kevin Acee said that "every indication I had gotten privately from those who know Tomlinson was that he was gone." The decision is now in LT's hands.

Bears agreed to terms with RB Kevin Jones on a two-year contract worth approximately $4 million.

The Bears had talked about finding a back to pair with Matt Forte, but in the end they're settling for Jones. They matched two offers from the Bills, so it looks like they believe another year removed from ACL surgery will allow him to contribute more offensively than he did last year with just 34 carries.

Eagles agreed to terms with SS Sean Jones on a one-year undisclosed contract.

Jones fills the void left by Brian Dawkins' departure, but it's surprising that he only landed a one-year deal. A rebound season would allow him to hit the market again next year at age 28 where he would have a better chance of cashing in.
