Antonio Gates - TE - Chargers Aug. 19 - 11:09 PM et

Antonio Gates passed his physical and returned to practice Tuesday morning.

Gates was limited to individual drills, but this is the most positive sign yet that he could be ready to suit up by Week 1. He is, however, not likely to play in the two remaining preseason games as his final hurdle is avoiding setbacks.

Joe Horn - WR - Falcons Aug. 19 - 10:43 PM et

Joe Horn has reached out to 31 teams, every franchise besides the Falcons, in his search for a new job.

Baskin Robbins has reportedly narrowed his top flavors to the Dolphins, Cowboys, Titans, Jaguars, and Rams. Whether there is any mutual interest in the injury-prone 36-year-old is subject to doubt.

Daniel Wilcox - TE - Ravens Aug. 19 - 10:31 PM et

Ravens backup TE Daniel Wilcox (toe surgery) has resumed practicing.

He will try to play in the remaining two preseason games and hopes to be football-ready by the season opener.

Nick Barnett - LB - Packers Aug. 19 - 9:30 PM et

Packers MLB Nick Barnett will not be suspended for his role in a nightclub incident last year.

The NFL's one-game suspension was dropped upon Barnett's successful appeal. He still faces a stiff one-week prorated fine for the incident, but at least he won't miss game time.

Trent Edwards - QB - Bills Aug. 19 - 9:11 PM et

Bills QB Trent Edwards hurt his right leg during Tuesday night's practice and walked with a slight limp off the field.

After Edwards and Marshawn Lynch knocked knees on a running play, Edwards was down for about 5 minutes while being examined. The full extent of the injury isn't known, but it did not appear to be serious.

Brady Poppinga - LB - Packers Aug. 19 - 9:05 PM et

Packers SLB Brady Poppinga has reportedly elevated his level of play "to the point where there's little chance he will lose his starting spot."

Brandon Chillar was signed as a free agent to challenge Poppinga for the job, but it looks like the incumbent has held him off. Poppinga has often struggled in coverage, so he may still lose situational snaps to Chillar. In the meantime, Chillar has been seeing time at the WILL with A.J. Hawk out.

Joey Porter - LB - Dolphins Aug. 19 - 8:40 PM et

After dealing with an ankle injury and a sore back throughout training camp, Joey Porter suffered a nagging knee injury during last Saturday's game against the Jaguars.

Porter has had both knees scoped the past two seasons, and his injuries are starting to stack up. He missed practice Tuesday with a right knee sprain and a sore back, but he's expected to be healthy by Week 1.

Derek Anderson - QB - Browns Aug. 19 - 8:28 PM et

Browns QB Derek Anderson was officially diagnosed with a "mild" concussion.

There is no official word on how much time Anderson will miss. But a Cleveland source says the concussion is not severe and Anderson should be ready for the season opener at the very least.
